Did you know…?
The area known as Homebush Bay today has an extremely interesting history. It was originally inhabited by the Wann clan, known as the Wann-gal aboriginals. Ten days after the First Fleet arrived on Australian soil, the area was named the ‘Flats’. D’arcy Wentworth, who had previously been absolved of the crime of highway robbery, arrived in Sydney on the Neptune in 1790, where he had acted as assistant surgeon. In 1810, he was given 370 hectares of land, which he chose to name Home Bush. He began the first horse stud in Australia.
